Just noticed this when researching for my last article. I read about this site today, and I was thinking the exact same thing. Stolen ID Search is a free search engine that will check to see if your information has been stored on the internet for identity theft purposes. You just enter your SSN. I’ll let the Consumerist take it from here. I’m glad they vocalized it for me.

Stolen ID Search? For one, there is personal information flying all over the place anyway, in today’s world and there isn’t much you can do about it. Secondly, if you have encountered true “identity theft” you’ll find out sooner or later - perhaps via a big bill for something you didn’t purchase. Ha-ha! All this ID talk reminds me of those kooks you meet from time to time who don’t suffer from identity theft, but from an identity crisis. The latter is often worse; LOL!
