Niche Dreams

April 24th, 2007 · 7 Comments

I recently wrote a guest post on Green Llama entitled The Importance of Choosing a Niche. It’s really gotten the ol’ brain chuggin away on the topic. I’d love to start another blog that can bring in some cash. There’s a conversation going on in the comments about choosing the right niche. One important part is choosing something you’re interested in as to maintain activity. Unfortunately my forte is tech/computers, which is a very saturated market.

I’ve been thinking of some other ideas. I have a number of them, and there’s one that I’m particularly interested in. I was planning on starting to set it up tonight, but I got distracted with friends/booze. I don’t want to drop my idea until I’m up and running, as I have a habit of over-hyping things that don’t happen. But on a related note, I’m rediscovering how freaking annoying it is looking for a decent domain. Squatters piss me off.

So, you’re having dreams about finding a niche? I’ve had similar thoughts, as in many times the things you are very knowledgeable about and/or could blog with ease, are already highly competitive, saturated, etc. Just try to find a niche that doesn’t feel like homework with each and every post you make, as you’re more likely to burnout that way. Good luck with ya online ‘money making’ dreams…

Yeah, well, if you get bored with your monetized websites niche dreams, you can always create a few blogs using a free service and use it for creative rants, entertainment, and senseless chatter. Ya know, to break the monotony of it all… :D

I agree with the Anti-Dolt, although, since we are talking about dreams and senseless baloney, it might not hurt to enter the field of myths, mystic madness, folklore, legends, and other forms of bizarre, interesting ill shit, as well! Pick your niche, but try to be creative at the same time; cheers!

While y’all are having dreams of monetary success online, don’t forget about the “health & fitness” niche, as that particular genre pays well if ya can get the traffic flowing and whatnot.

Yeah, the same applies to the perpendicular blogs and posts similar to random stuff like, uh, within the ‘deep thoughts’ category and whatnot: http://perpendicularity.org/blog/category/deep-thoughts/

Yeah, many good thoughts on this blog post and just think, the spam links hasn’t even arrived yet in this comment field, but they will in due time, of course ’cause those spamming bastards are relentless, let me tell ya…

What about those lovely dream-shattering rants?

I hate to butt in, but what about the routine, ordinary, common parts of daily living - with or without the dreams or the niche - like what is known as the mundane?
